Establishment of the Red Ribbon Centre in Urumqi

Approved budget 217,285 RMB/$36,214 AUD.

Goal: The project aims to provide support and assistance to PLWHA by providing training to PLWHA, their families and friends with knowledge about HIV/AIDS and by establishing:

• A 24-hour hotline providing counseling services and support;
• A PLWHA Club (Red Ribbon Centre) where PLWHA can meet to discuss issues and share experiences; and
• A referral system to provide free medical and legal advice to PLWHA.

This project has been completed and the RRC will be built into a much wider community based initiative in Urumqi, Yili and Kashgar.
