Major EventsStudy Tours - The project has supported two study tours to Australia for policy makers from Xinjiang. The first study tour for operational level managers was conducted in October 2003. The second study tour, for senior level policy makers, took place in February 2004 and was led by the Vice Governor, Mr Kurexi Maihesuti. 2003 World AIDS Day - The Xinjiang HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care Project participated in World AIDS Day (1 December) activities led by the Regional Bureau of Health. Australia Donates SARS Prevention Equipment to Xinjiang - The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), on behalf of the Australian people, donated equipment to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to support SARS prevention work. The handover ceremony was held at the Regional Bureau of Health on 16 June 2003 Parliamentary Delegation Visits - An Australian parliamentary delegation headed by the Honorable Judi Moylan, the Chairperson of the Australia-China IPU Friendship Group, visited Xinjiang between 4 to 6 April 2003 under the invitation of the Chinese People's Foreign Diplomatic Association.
